What's the difference between the Hybrid vehicles?
MHEVMild HybridThese models are still powered by a conventional engine, but they have a small electric engine to improve the fuel efficiency and the power output. They can't drive exclusively on electric energy and the battery is automatically recharged through regenerative braking.
HEVHybridThe Hybrid vehicles are capable of switching between combustion or electric engine. This means that they can drive exclusively with the electric engine at low speeds or for small journeys. The battery can't be recharged.
PHEVPlug-In HybridPlug-In Hybrid vehicles are similar to Hybrid vehicles, but they dispose of larger batteries which can be recharged from an external power source. For this reason they're capable of running exclusively on electric for a range up to 50km.
